Trying to strike a balance between providing as much detailed information with as many pictures as possible, and trying to open the site as quickly as possible, has led to Living in Korea opening in late 2019 with four sections and additional to follow. The site officially opened with Overview, Housing, Transport, and Banking for Phase 1.
Several sections within Transport and Overview were not able to be completed in time and those are currently prioritized for completion. When those are finished, work will begin on the Medical, Family, and Misc. sections and will open individually as soon as they are ready. Their completion will mark the end of Phase 2, which hopefully will be finished within 2020 or early 2021.
The third phase will be opening the new Driving section. Of the 8,000 photos which have been taken for this website, 2,500 of them have been taken for the driving section. Once it is open, it will be the most comprehensive information in English on driving in Korea spanning driving schools, purchasing used cars, street signs, parking, and enforcement measures.
Just because a section has opened doesn’t mean it is 100% completed as there are many envisioned subsections that have been planned but were not able to be completed in an orderly manner due to time restrictions. Phase 4 will address that by filling in the many missing subsections and also adding to and expanding existing contents. Be sure to contact us to let us know what is missing from the site and if you spot any errors or mistakes. Our goal is to help not only all IBS researchers to adjust, but as many of the international population living in Korea as possible.
