Geology
Research Purpose
To examine methodologies for long-term stability monitoring of underground structures, a monitoring system is employed to detect long-term static displacement as well as microseismic or micro-vibration signals induced by the initiation and propagation of rock mass fractures.
Monitoring System
- Static displacement monitoring: FBG (Fiber Bragg Grating)-based optical displacement sensors
- Microseismic (MS) monitoring: Geophones or accelerometers, along with a data acquisition (DAQ) system
Expected Outcomes
Based on the accumulated data, the fracture behavior of the rock mass and the effects of vibrations will be analyzed. The results will be utilized for future stability assessments of the Yemi Lab facilities and for underground space management.
