The IBS Center for Genomic Integrity was founded in December 2014. The proposal to establish a center focusing broadly on DNA repair and damage response mechanisms was supported by the IBS and by the Ulsan Institute for Science and Technology (UNIST), which hosts IBS-CGI.
The vision of IBS-CGI is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms that preserve genomic integrity, to understand how they contribute to cancer pathogenesis, and to develop cancer therapeutic approaches that target pathways needed for genome integrity. Since its inception, the IBS-CGI developed into an internationally leading institute in the area of genome stability. It has supported well over 100 publications, international meetings, and seminar series and intellectual properties.
