Title: Applications of Research Reactor HANARO at KAERI
Abstract:
High-flux Advanced Neutron Application Reactor (HANARO) at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) is the only research reactor currently in operation in Korea. Research reactor HANARO has a thermal power of 30 MW, which is about 1/100th of that of domestic commercial reactors. HANARO is mainly used as a neutron source, and radioactive isotopes (Co-60, Lu-177, Ho-166, etc.) and semiconductor materials (Si, SiC, etc.) are produced through neutron irradiation. In addition, by performing neutron activation analysis (NAA) using various measuring equipment, the activity and composition of the target sample are evaluated and the related analysis results are provided.
In this talk, various studies conducted using research reactor HANARO are introduced. In addition, studies to be conducted in the future, such as studies using ultra cold neutron beam facility and reactor monitoring, are also introduced.
