2019 IBS Conference on Surface Atomic Wires
Welcome to IBS Conference on Surface Atomic Wires.
This is the second international conference for self-assembled atomic wires on semiconductor surfaces following the success of the first conference in 2016.
These material systems started to be intensively studied after the finding of interesting 1D metallic band structures and phase transitions in the late half of 1990’s. Major physics discussed so far includes, charge density wave, non-Fermi liquids, silicon magnetism, spin-orbit interaction, and recently topological phases and excitations.
In particular, this year, the conference widens its scope to include Majorana edge states, quantum spin physics, and new 1D channels in 2D van der Waals materials, and engineered artificial lattices.
We hope that this conference can summarize the current status of the field, define unsolved problems, and find new research directions and collaborations.
